Wow. What the heck happened to March? You’ll note that I didn’t do much writing here on Matters of Taste. But I did do a lot of eating, and skiing, and drinking, and skiing, and cooking, and skiing…you get the picture.
In the coming days, I’ll share recipes and restaurant
reviews from my recent “day-boat scallops” binge (I discovered eight luscious
creations in two weeks); a look at
some moderately priced wines that’ll make you say “Wow” with that first sip;
and my tasting notes on the explosion of yogurt-based salad dressings in the
marketplace.
(The scallops pictured here, with white bean "cassoulet" and a knock-your-socks-off savory bread pudding, are the creation of chef Brian Hyre of Pacific 333 in Oceanside, CA.)
We’ll also check out an ambitious bike path in Napa Valley; taste Thai desserts designed for American palates; and take a vicarious peek at New York’s Surrey Hotel’s elegant approach to “bottle service” – the in-room mixologist. Blackberry Mint Margarita, anyone?
